Hello world. Here we come!

What is new people? (Apart from Un.Herd!…. OK BAD ONE!)

I am Manav Parekh, Co-Founder, Un.Herd Records. My friends, Adil Press, Ashish Dubash, and I came together in July last year (2008) and decided we wanted to start a label. Pretty straightforward.

We then went on a hunt for a nice band to start with. Honestly, that is when we were exposed to the kinda depth that the Indian Independent music scene and more importantly, the rock scene in general has. It is just incredible! And at the same time, it is puzzling that only a handful are even trying to tap in to the potential it has. These are exciting times for music in general. The paradigm of the audiences is swinging from outright commercial to experimental genres. Fortunately for me, my partners and the handful of others, big record labels choose to ignore this fact.

Coming back to the band hunt, after numerous sessions with numerous bands and managers, we finally have one which makes us feel that it was all worth the wait. The band in question here, is the Bombay based ‘Black’. You can sample some of their stuff on http://www.myspace.com/blackattainment

We are currently in the ‘Recording’ phase and shall get into post production within a month. Gotta zip now! Will keep you guys in the loop regularly from now on in.
